Our Doctor Broke Kara's water at 6:15pm and she delivered Porter at 7:47pm. Our doctor had just come home from a cruise the day before so it was his first day back to work. We had an appointment with him at 11:30am and we found out she was progressing towards labor and so we talked about induction dates and Dr. Young wanted to wait at least three more days so He called the hospital to schedual a time to Induce Kara. Well the hospital was all booked for the days he wanted so he said she is coming today! I was excited, Kara was excited and nervous. The doctor had a full day at the office because it was his first day back, so he told us to head up to the hospital and the nurses would start her on Pitosin ( I am not sure I spelled that right?) "PIT" for short, and that he would come up after work and break her water. Finally Dr. Young arrives to break her water and then the real fun starts...Dr. Young had plans with family and friends that evening because he had been out of town so he went home and said to call him as soon as she gets uncomfortable. He was well aware that Kara's deliveries are quick! So the contractions are getting progressively worse and the nurses checks her dialation and says she is at a 7 so kara said CALL DR. YOUNG!!! I think that is the last thing she really remembers until after Porter was born. She was in the zone, she had a job to do and no was getting in the way. She seemed very in control the whole time and just focused on getting through the contractions. They call the Doctor and He was quick! I was impressed, he was even a little winded like he ran from the parking lot! (He is a great Dr.) As he walked in he asked the nurse if he had time to change clothes, then he looked at the moniters and said "no I don't". He threw on a gown and gloves, looked at me and said "just so you know I have Never come in like this before", He was in a polo shirt, cargo shorts and crockadile shoes. That was all the chit-chat we had before he told Kara to push with the next contraction, so with one big push and a hard contraction Porter was out and on Kara's stomach getting cleaned off and that is when Kara came around and out of the Zone she was in. With Porter on her belly and knowing she did not have her hands up to hold him on she told me and the nurses not to drop him and then looked up to see Dr. Young and asked "when did you get here?". He assured her that he made it in time and that she had just did an amazing job. Porter did get bruised alittle coming down the birth canal so fast the nurses called it "hitting the floor" because he hit the pelvic floor so fast and hard that he bruised up his nose and lip and also he was alittle purple because the cord was wrapped around his neck just a little. Well the Picures can tell you the rest. We are so greatful that Porter is here and healthy along with Kara who is recovering well.

Wow Kara!! You are amazing. What a fast delivery. I love how Chant said you were in the zone. You must be great at delivery. I am so happy for you and am glad you are all healthy and happy. The story about your doc is hilarious.
