Loose Tooth

This little man lost his very first tooth on Tuesday, the 19th.  He came home from school Monday wiggling it back and forth, back and forth with his tongue.  All afternoon and evening, back and forth.  It felt really loose and this was the first day he had even mentioned it felt wiggly.  Then Tuesday when he came home from school, he could push it almost straight out.  I asked him if I could feel and I put my thumb and pointer finger on it and pop, out it came.  He didn't even know I had pulled it until I said, "Porter, look."  Then he looked down at my palm and a look of surprise came over his face.  He said it didn't even hurt.  I know, I'm good!  Even though he now has a lost tooth, he still keeps saying he has a loose tooth.  The tooth next to it is starting to wiggle now, so I guess he still does have a loose tooth after all.  I love hearing him talk.  SO funny!

Brag time about this little buddy.  He got all 4s on his report card, which means he is doing amazing (4 is the highest).  He is testing above grade level for everything.  Such a smart cookie.  Have to admit I was a little nervous that his teacher was going to tell me he's always bouncing all over, but she said he is doing awesome.  Every mom loves to hear that.  I just love this little guy!

Funny story.  We were out the other day and a girl told Porter he was cute.  He smiled at her, tilted his  head to the side, and said, "I know, right."  The girl about died laughing.  I agree though, he is pretty cute!

Porter's Party

Here is the video of singing Happy Birthday to Porter. And this video is of Porter serenading the adults while we ate dinner. Just in case you can't tell, he is singing I am a Child of God.

He's Free!

Monday, June 6 my little man turned three, or as he says free! I cannot believe my baby is three! He is such a fun little boy and we were so excited to help him celebrate his big day. Saturday we took a family adventure to the Kennnecott Mines in Herriman. We live so close and we thought it would fun for him to see the big trucks. While we were driving up the mountain Porter kept saying "Wow! Big mountain!" When we got there the very first thing we saw was this massive tire. It costs $35,000 per tire and each truck has six tires. The tires only last 9 months. It costs 3 million dollars a day to run their fleet of dump trucks!
There is a visitors center that we wandered through with lots of interesting displays. The kids had fun looking at all of them. Then we watched an 18 minute video. Chant and I were a little nervous if they would get bored with it, but they were fascinated and sat still watching the whole thing. It was very interesting.
The massive dump trucks are the size of an average two-story home. "Wow! Big truck!"
A shot of the mine.
On the way down the mountain I asked Porter if he had fun. He said, "Not fun, it's amazing!" He was so cute!
Sunday evening we had Porter's party with Jen and Gran. They came over about 4:30 and we had dinner, presents, and cake. We had a special seat with snowflake decorations for the birthday boy.
Porter was so excited about his Spiderman cake! (Thanks for the idea Tracy!)
This year the girls each picked out a present for the birthday boy. They wrapped the gifts too. The first present he opened was from Brinnley.
She chose a light saber for him, which she called a life saver. Porter just calls it his sword. He was super excited!
Ainsley chose a tow truck. She saw it and that had to be the gift. She was so excited for him to get it she couldn't help but be right then when he was opening it.
And Porter didn't seem to mind at all.
Gran got him a fun kit with words that have cut outs to put the letters in. All the kids were excited about this one. (Ainsley has played with it every day.)
Last the big surprise from Jen. She had hidden behind her own guitar one for Porter. He was so excited!
He got right on the couch and started his concert. So cute! He continued to play for us while the adults were eating dinner. He gives a good show!
I think this little boy had a pretty good party. I love him so much and I am so grateful he is in our family. I cannot imagine our home without his warm smile and the screeches of the girls when he bugs them. Happy birthday Porter Boy!

To My Son

Dear Porter,
This is your mother. I just wanted to tell you that I love you. I love the way way you curl up in bed with your horse pillow pet, Hootie, and Monster all tucked safely under your arms and then stick your bum in the air and ask for a song before falling alseep. I love that you ask to sing either "the Bird song" or "You Are My Sunshine" and that you sing along with me. I love that you wander around the house singing "Baby, baby, oh thought you'd always be mine." I love it when we get in the car and you say "Turn it up!" after we turn the radio on. Even though I probably shouldn't, I love it when you get frustrated and say "ugh." I love that you prop your chin up with your hand while you eat dinner. I love that you eat your dinner! I love your smile! I love it when I ask where your ears are and you pull them out so you look like Dumbo. I love it when you grab your kissable cheeks and pull them out. SO cute! I love your expressive eyes and the facial expressions that make me laugh because they say it all, just like mine do. I love it when you smile and your top lip disappears. I love it when you kiss people you grab their cheeks and give them a big smooch. I love it when you climb on my lap and cuddle with me. You are so snuggly. I love it when you call your sister Bimmy Beff. So adorable! I love that you love to color and draw and do puzzles. I love that you love horses so much, just like your sister. You play with them every day. I love it when we sit down together and read books. You always pay attention and then afterward you tell me the story. I love it when you want to do things by yourself, like buckle your own carseat straps. I love it when you sing along to the songs on your favorite shows. I love it that when I look at you I see a mini version of your Daddy. Porter I just love you so much. I love your full of life, active, loving personality. I love you to the moon and back!

Forever and always,
Mommy

The Big Two

Porter's 2nd Birthday was Sunday. When he woke up from his nap all his presents were piled in the living room waiting for him. He knew what was up and he started going for the paper. My wrapping jobs were a little too good sometimes and he needed help, but he loved ripping the paper. He got a Little People airport and a whole crew of planes, cars, and people to zoom around the track.
Finally, his first phone! Now maybe he will stop trying to take mine all the time.
He played with the airport track the rest of the evening. Even 4 days later, it is pretty much guaranteed that is where he will be.
He got this cool Lego castle that came complete with the knight, princess, wizard, and horse.

Everyone seemed to love the presents. The kids played well together all day and they have been busy playing all week.

Happy birthday little boy. I cannot believe my baby is two! We love you and are so glad you are ours!

Birthday Cake

After presents we did birthday cake. Brinnley wanted to help light the candle.
Porter needed a little help figuring out what to do, but he got it.
SO Good!

Celebration

Tomorrow is Porter's birthday, but we did our outing today. For our little man's second birthday, we went to Build-A-Bear. This was our first time. We thought it was pretty perfect since Build-A-Bear started in St. Louis. It was a wonderful time!

First, the kids picked their animal from dozens on display. Brinn picked a puppy, Ainsley a monkey, and Porter an owl. Here they are showing off their animals.
Next they stuffed their animals. The girls thought it was pretty cool. They held the foot pedal down that puts the stuffing in the animal. After the animal was stuffed they picked a fabric heart. They kissed it, touched it to their hearts (so they would be loving), ear (so they will be good listeners), nose, and then they made a wish and put the heart inside the animal. (Brinnley with her stuffed puppy she named Sniffy.)
Ainsley making her wish before putting the heart in Monkey Jr.
Porter got scared of the sound the machine made when it was putting the stuffing in, but he liked watching from a distance while holding Hooty and his heart.
After stuffing the animals, we gave them baths. Ainsley was especially thorough washing Monkey, Jr. Porter liked it too, using the brush and everything.

Next they picked outfits and then dressed them. The girls both picked soccer uniforms that were complete with shin guards and a mini soccer ball. Hooty got a nice pair of overalls.
While we were walking to the car each kid wanted to hold their own animal condo, even Porter. It was slow going but he is a determined little man and he made it. Trust me, he did not want to let go of his owl!

When we got home the kids swam in our little pool in the front yard. From the moment they came back in the house 2 hours ago, we have not heard them or seen Hooty, Monkey Jr., and Sniffy. I am scared for what there room looks like :) Today has been wonderful! We had a melt-down free day and they have played so nicely together. I love my little family and we cannot wait for the big day tomorrow to continue celebrating Porter Boy. We love you little man!

The Boys of the house

I thought I would give a quick update on the boys of the house.  Porter is changing so much.  He is learning and growing tons.  Here are a few of his current favs.

He is still very much into dancing and he will run from another room to bounce up and down when he hears his fav songs come on.

Tonight he was carrying around this beautiful skirt and trying to get it on.  FInally he took it took Chant who helped him step into it.  He wore it from about 6-7:30 and cried when we took it off.  He was having fun playing prince and princess with the girls.

He also likes the make-shift crown.  (The inside of a plastic baseball hat.)

He refuses to let me feed him anymore.  I tried as long as I could, but he is Mr. Independent now.  Notice he is still holding the spoon in the left hand ;)

He loves boxes and stuffed animals

The new favorite activity is to visit the duck pond.  He carries on quite the conversations with the ducks and can quack as loud as they can.  He is also fluent in mooing and neighing.

The man of the house started clinic last Monday.  It has been one week and so far so good.  Our lives are a little more hectic and he gets home a little later than before, but we are still doing good.  And we are so proud of Chant for working so hard!
